In general, there are 3 ways to grant access to users:
- Granting direct access to a user in Meta Business Suite.
- Granting direct access to a Meta Ads Manager ad account.
- Granting access as a partner (suitable for sharing access and assets with other agencies).
Since the second method is outdated, we will only consider two options: the first and the third.
Let’s begin.
How to Grant Direct Access to a Facebook Ad Account to a User via Meta Business Suite
This method is versatile and relatively simple. It will help you grant access not only to the ad account but also to the catalog, pixel, business page, and other Meta infrastructure assets required for advertising campaigns.
Step-by-step instructions:
0. What’s important to know before starting? The user to whom you plan to grant direct access to the ad account must be registered on Facebook and be added as your friend.
1. Log in to Facebook Business Manager (https://business.facebook.com/) for the ad account to which you plan to grant access to the user.
2. Go to Business Manager settings. This can be done in 2 ways:
2.1. Via the button in the list of accounts connected to your Business Manager.

2.2. Or via the “Settings” button located at the bottom of the Business Manager screen.

3. The next step is to go to the “Users” section in “Settings”.

4. The next step is to click the “Invite User” button.

5. Enter the email of the user to whom you are granting access to the Meta Ads ad account.

6. The next step is to select the access level for the user. Later, in the settings, you can change the access level again.

6.1. What access to grant the user?
6.1.1. Partial access is only suitable for a superficial analysis of the ad account, so we recommend granting this access only for the audit stage.
6.1.2. Full access. We recommend granting this if you are starting to work with a user, and to avoid opening access to each asset separately later (and there are many assets, which often slows down work), it’s better to grant full access to the ad account immediately. Granting full access to a specialist is normal.
6.1.3. Finance. If you grant access to this section, the specialist will be able to view and analyze money usage, assist with payment issues, and change payment details.
7. The next step is to grant access to individual assets. It’s best to ask the user beforehand which assets they need for their work, so you don’t have to return to these settings again.

8. After this, you can once again review the general information about what and to whom you are granting access and send this request. We will not include an image of this page, as nothing needs to be configured on it.
9. The access request has been generated. Now, the user needs to confirm receipt of access via a link in their email.

10. In the “Users” section, a new user will be added, where you can resend the access request, revoke access, or restrict access to assets.
How to Grant Access to a Meta Business Suite Ad Account to an Agency or Another Company
- As in the previous option, you need to log in to your Facebook Business Manager (https://business.facebook.com/).
- Go to Business Manager settings. The two ways to do this are described in the previous section, so we won’t repeat them.
- The next step is to go to the “Partners” section in “Settings”.
- Click the “Add” button -> “Give a partner access to your assets”.
- There is also a reverse process – requesting access to a client’s Business Manager, but for this, you will need not only the Business Manager ID but also the email of the user who needs to grant access, which is usually more complicated (have you ever tried to get the email address of a user who has access to Meta Business Suite?).
- Enter the Business Manager ID of the agency to which you are granting access.
- If you don’t have the Business Manager ID, ask your agency for it.

- The next 2 steps repeat the previous section, points 7-10. You select which assets to grant access to your partner, review the access parameters, and send the request.

Where to Find Meta Business Suite ID
- Log in to Facebook Business Manager (https://business.facebook.com/) for the ad account to which you plan to grant access to the user.
- Go to the Settings section.
- Go to the Business Info section.
- The Business Portfolio ID is the ID you need.

How to Remove a User with Full Access from Meta Business Suite
It seems simple enough – just find the “Remove User” button. However, business owners often encounter issues where the button is inactive, making it impossible to remove a user who has been granted full access to information.
This is especially important when a user has access to financial information and an active ad account where they can make changes.
The first thing to check is whether you have full access to remove other users. If so, follow these instructions:
- Log in to Facebook Business Manager (https://business.facebook.com/) for the ad account to which you plan to grant access to the user.
- Go to Business Manager settings.
- The next step is to go to the “Users” section in “Settings”.
- Select the user you want to remove. Click on the square with three dots, and then click the “Remove” button.

- If other users also have full access to the business profile, then in such a case, confirmation from a second user with full access may be required for removal.
- In this case, you need to ask another user to go to Business Manager, to the “Requests” section, and also confirm the request to remove the user.
